ABSTRACT

This research addressed qur’anic models in addressing food and medicine problems: a contemporary thematic and foundational study and concerned with the Qur’anic view of Tasfiah (purity) and tarbiyyah (nurturing). It examines elements like the story of the People of Sabaʾ, the experience of Banū Isrāʾīl, how Yūsuf handles food, Ayyūb’s cure and the mention of bees and honey. The results showed that the Qur’anic perspective on food and medicine incorporates our holistic knowledge of nutrition and health sciences. It also highlighted the potential for Qur’anic guidance to contribute to ethical and efficacious public health and nutrition legislation. The research concluded that the teachings of the holy Qur’an codify behavior informing a structured mechanism to link legal precedents, health consciousness and moral responsibility thus proving to be a pre-requisite for practical implications in contemporary areas of medicine and dietetics.
